The Lock-Up

The Lock-Up is a community cultural centre, including an art gallery and museum, located in the historic Newcastle Police Station. The building dates from the early 19th century and is of considerable heritage significance. The project included the provision of disabled access and an external signage framework, refurbishment of first floor rooms to create an artist-in-residence apartment and studio, installing an additional fire egress stair, improvements to the gallery and museum spaces, and sundry associated works.
